Image conversion that never uploads.
OfflinePix converts HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JPG and PNG entirely inside the browser. Drop a folder of iPhone photos, get JPGs back, and nothing ever leaves the device. Turn off the Wi-Fi and it still works.
The problem
Converting a photo should not mean handing it to a stranger.
iPhones save HEIC, Windows cannot open it, and half the web now serves WebP and AVIF files that desktop apps and upload forms reject. So people search for a free converter and land on a site that uploads their pictures to a server, caps the batch, and sometimes is not what it claims to be. The FBI has warned about exactly that.
Browsers have been able to do this work locally for years. The decoders and encoders those servers run can be compiled to WebAssembly and executed in a tab. Nobody had made that the default.
In the product
One drop zone. Any direction. Nothing leaves the device.
Each tool page is tuned to a conversion people actually search for, with the converter preset and plain-English notes on what the formats are for.
How it works
Real codecs, running in the tab.
For people with a photo that will not open
- HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JPG and PNG in any direction, plus compress and resize
- Batch a whole folder and download one zip
- Correct orientation and colour every time; location data stripped
Under the hood
- libheif, libavif and libwebp compiled to WebAssembly, run in background threads
- Installable as an app; the codecs cache so it works with no network at all
- Free and supported by advertising; no account, no upsell, no server to trust
