Dexter

Price testing for Shopify merchants.

Dexter runs controlled A/B tests on your product prices and reports the result in revenue — not conversion rate. Find out what a price change is actually worth before you commit to it.

The problem

Pricing is the highest-leverage number in the business, and most stores set it once.

A price change flows straight to the bottom line in a way that a conversion-rate improvement doesn't. Yet most direct-to-consumer brands pick a price at launch, match it against a competitor, and leave it alone for years.

That isn't carelessness — it's that testing a price properly is genuinely hard. You need to show different prices to comparable groups of shoppers, run the test long enough for the result to mean something, and measure it in revenue. Conversion rate alone will mislead you every time: a lower price nearly always converts better while making less money.

The platforms that do this well are priced and scoped for companies with an analytics team. For a store doing solid revenue with a handful of people, there hasn't been a sensible option.

In the product

Two prices, side by side, measured in revenue.

Dexter serves the original price and the test price to comparable groups of shoppers, then reports what each one actually earned — not how each one converted.

Dexter test results comparing an original and test price, each showing revenue per 100 visitors, total revenue, and order count

How it works

A live price test in under a minute.

Set up

  • Four steps from install to a running test
  • Theme compatibility verified automatically on your first test, so nothing breaks on the storefront
  • Runs alongside your existing remarketing and cart-recovery apps without interfering

Results you can act on

  • Reported as revenue per 100 visitors — the number that reflects what you actually earned
  • Multiple simultaneous tests across the catalogue
  • Plain reporting, without a statistics degree required to read it

Revenue per 100 visitors is the headline number, because a lower price will almost always convert better while earning less.
